Comcast shares rise 16% in less than 3 months

from 31.968 when purchased by the IHNOW Delaware Valley Fund on July 11, 2006 to 37.02 today. To consolidate these gains and to reduce the proportion of the IHNOW Delaware Valley portfolio represented by Comcast from 6% to just under 4%, just about 1/3 of IHNOW Comcast shares were sold.

Ideas and Questions from Second Forum

How to organize IHNOW? One share one vote would make individual investors unequal...how to decide on what companies to hold or sell... for instance Lockheed Martin, maker of missiles, employees many people in the Delaware Valley but how sustainable is investment in military technology... is it an investment bound to backfire?

"Take This Job and Ship It"

Book by Sen. Byron Dorgan (ND) who testified about La-Z-Boy buying Pennsylvania House Furniture and shipping Pennsylvanians' jobs abroad. "That is not fair trade. That is not something we should continue to allow in this country, stand by and thumb the suspenders and whistle a little bit while Americans lose those jobs and those jobs go to China and then come back to a big-box retailer to be sold at discount prices. Who ultimately is going to buy those products? Testimony in Senate on Bahrain Free Trade

Second Forum Thursday, Sept 14, 7:30 pm

at the Weavers Way Cooperative meeting room, 610 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia, PA as part of the bodacious 10th Annual Philadelphia Live Arts-Fringe Festival! Can the BUY FRESH BUY LOCAL food movement and the Made in the USA movement, extrapolated to the state or regional or local level, define a new way of socially responsible investing? Isn't it socially responsible to invest in companies with substantial ties to the local economy, such as those included in the Bloomberg Philadelphia Index and take shareholder action to ensure that we profit not only financially but also from their corporate concern for the health of our environment and the wellbeing of their employees, our neighbors? Check out CalPERS.

Public Service Announcement: Trick or Treat

for UNICEF, find out how. Additionally, you can order, free, packs of 25 boxes to distribute to your children's classmates. Bravo to Cartoon Network and P&G, whose logos adorn the sides of the box and bravo to Coinstar whose machines accept change and print out a receipt to be mailed to UNICEF.

IHNOW Website Introduces Feedback, News and..

yes, Google ads! This website is maintained through Blogger, a company and program gobbled up by Google and before soon, everyone on the web may be too. Maybe they should rename the company "GLOBBER" or "GOBBLER." Meanwhile, running these ads on the IHNOW website does not indicate an endorsement but offers us the opportunity to amass some fractions of pennies... which may one day add up enough to offer awards of IHNOW shares to deserving young people,as discussed under the IHNOW Organization link.

Should we have sold Sunoco stock....?

...when the going was good? The IHNOW Delaware Valley model portfolio saw an annualized return of 12% as of September 8, 2006. Sunoco was purchased by the model portfolio on July 11,2006 at a share price of $69.11. As prices at the pump soared, so did Sunoco stock, rising over 14% in less than a month to $79.33 on August 9, 2006. Gas prices have been substantially moderating and on September 8, 2006 Sunoco share price dropped to $65.50 approaching Unisys as the biggest loser in the model portfolio. While ownership of Sunoco is satsifying its role as a hedge against prices at the pump, perhaps we should have consolidated some of our gains while the stock was flying high and invested in another area stock so as to diversify the portfolio....

"Louisiana- please don't invest here!"

"Louisiana- please don't invest here!" is the Progress Freedom Foundation's (PFF) response to the governor's veto of a video franchise bill.

Were the Invest Here Now (IHNOW Funds) to launch the "IHONOW Gulf Coast Fund" with residents of Louisiana, Mississippi,Alabama, Florida and Texas, we, of course would take the opposite approach!
